One of the most beautiful streets in the world has 3,000 umbrellas and is in Águeda Portugal

For three weeks in July, there is a packed schedule of concerts and workshops, and the event coincides with sensational public art installations.

The most iconic is the Umbrella Sky Project, where downtown streets have a kaleidoscopic canopy made up of some 3,000 umbrellas.

Theres always something going on, day or night, whether its urban art that transforms streetlights, storefronts, benches and stairs, or makeshift concerts, flashmobs, parades, and nightly shows.

The American publication Architectural Digest highlighted Rua Luis de Camões in Águeda as one of the most beautiful streets in the world.

Among many distinctions and references around the world of this emblematic pedestrian street, which transforms in summer and Christmas, this time it was Architectural Digest that makes a huge highlight of Rua Luís de Camões, in a publication made on its website. The city of Águeda, and more specifically Luis de Camões Street, is mentioned as a destination to visit, in a list of 25 wonderful streets, of places like Quebec (Canada), Colmar (France), Chengdu (China).

Architectural Digest magazine has chosen and published the ranking of the 19 most amazing streets in the world. And, of course, there is a Portuguese city: yes, Águeda and its Umbrella Sky Project, as they call it.

The idea of filling the streets with umbrellas or, in this case, umbrellas, was born in 2011 as part of the annual AgitÁgueda art festival, and has since been successfully repeated, much to the delight of the Aguedenses and the many visitors that they pass through there.

Let us say, to the truth, that in Portugal there are other streets that deserve the title as well. Still, its well delivered!
